Letter to Editor
Dear Tori,
Late in the night of Dec. 19 a cruel and terrible thing happened. Some low life scum of the earth coward hiding behind a rifle with an infrared scope, under the cover of darkness, shot and killed our beloved family dog. Our whole family loved Lloyd, but our Mom was his real owner. He was her constant companion since our Dad passed away, never leaving her side from the moment she stepped out of the house.
What purpose did this serve? Lloyd was on his own property doing his own thing. He loved to go for Gator rides, he loved to go fishing and sit and watch bobbers, and loved to accompany anyone out to the sweet corn patch while picking corn. Was that few seconds of thrill from killing something worth it now knowing that you killed the family dog?
The purpose of this letter is to make the general public aware that there are people out there running around in the dark of night with military type equipment shooting warm blooded animals that should be safe on their own property. I fail to see the sport in that.
You tore our mom’s heart to shreds with this selfless act, and just a few days before Christmas, what a Christmas present it is. I hope the person who pulled the trigger, killing Lloyd, reads this and the thought of what you have done makes your Christmas not so merry and bright.I will be seeing you.
